FAQs

1. I’m out of shape! How do you expect me to do this?

All of our workouts are universally scalable. In short, that means that anyone, through modification, can do the workout. The modification (scaling) may be lighter loads, fewer reps, shorter runs, lower boxes, whatever’s applicable, but the movements remain the same for everyone. We’re just changing the load and the distance.

2. Is it hard?

Yes. Yes it is. It’s not meant to be easy. These workouts are meant to be physically and mentally taxing in a real way. Is it impossible? Nope…you just have to dig deep and do it.

3. I’ve never touched a kettlebell in my life! I don’t know anything about using those things!

That’s okay. We’ll teach you. We’ll teach you all of our movements and we’ll work on them outside of the WOD just to make sure you’ve got it down and are doing it correctly.

4. How do I know CrossFit is for me?

To be honest you don’t, until you come through the door. You’re just going to have to be willing to give it a shot, give it your best, and hold yourself accountable for your diet. If you do those things, you’ll more than likely find that CrossFit will bring a whole new perspective into your world.

5. You mentioned diet…what about it?

Check out http://zonediet.com and http://www.thepaleodiet.com/ for tons of information on what to eat and why. Suffice it to say that if your food comes in a cellophane wrapper and lasts longer than a week, generally speaking you shouldn’t be eating it.

In plain language, base your diet on garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, nuts and seeds, little starch, and no sugar. That’s about as simple as we can get. Many have observed that keeping your grocery cart to the perimeter of the grocery store while avoiding the aisles is a great way to protect your health. Food is perishable. The stuff with long shelf life is all suspect. If you follow these simple guidelines you will benefit from nearly all that can be achieved through nutrition.

6. Who do I call to get started?

Call Lennon at 214-215-5393 or send an email to Lennon.Simpson@gmail.com

7. I’m a little nervous about class settings, I’d like to do some personal training first. Do you offer personal training services?
Yup. Lennon is available for personal training sessions by appointment only, with a minimum of a three session commitment. Each session is an hour long…athletes are guided through movements and WODs with one on one attention and total focus from the trainer. Sessions can be used for skill builders (squat improvement, deadlift improvement, kipping pullups etc.) or for strength builders (coached heavy lifts), or they can be used as a private time to get trainer attention for a one on one WOD. Cost of the three sessions is $155.

8. Is everyone there super fit and in shape?
Everyone here started at the same place…the beginning. Everyone here walked in and wanted to make a commitment to health and wellness and fitness. Everyone here wants you to jump in and join us. 🙂
