On showing up –

There’s a huge thing to be said for walking through that door every day. More to be said for the extreme months (January, February, July, and August, I’m staring RIGHT AT you) when the weather isn’t exactly compliant. And the days when getting out of bed is the worst chore ever. And the days when you’ve run all over hell and half of Texas in the name of work, kids, and errands.

But you get here.

And you show up.

And you warm up.

And when you hear “3…2…1….GO!” you put your all into whatever IT is. Sometimes it’s cathartic, and you need the release and the aggression. Sometimes it’s with just getting it done in mine. Sometimes it’s competitive. Sometimes it’s because you’re about to go to Florida on vacation and you want to enjoy some treats while you’re there. Sometimes, it’s because you looked in the mirror that morning and you liked what you saw, so you want to keep going.

I don’t care what it is. I really don’t. All I care about is you being here.

I care about you being here and you pushing yourself.

Sean said that just being here and DOING this like he has been is a monumental feat all on its own. He’s right. There are so many other things you could be doing. Mowing the yard, popping a beer, catching a nap.

But you’re here, and you’re putting in the work, and in ALL of you, it’s showing.
